Global Faculty

ACTS has an outstanding global faculty from around the globe to teach and train pastors. Some of our faculty members are:

Marli Kennell
Professor, Global Faculty

Marli graduated from Talbot Theological Seminary with a Master’s degree in Systematic Theology. She has ministered to international students and provided Bible training in the United States, the Middle East, Russia and Eastern Europe. She has helped establish and direct ministry training programs for internationals as well as for the churches in her own city. Her passion is teaching the Word of God.

Dr. David Howard, Jr
Professor, Global Faculty

Dr. David Howard, Jr. is Professor of Old Testament at Bethel Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota.  He grew up in Costa Rica and Colombia, son of missionary parents, and he has also taught at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. 

His publications include numerous journal articles, book chapters, encyclopedia essays, and book reviews.  He is the author or editor of 13 books, including three on the Psalms, The Structure of Psalms 93-100 (1997); “My Words Are Lovely”: Studies in the Rhetoric of the Psalms; The Psalms: Language for all Seasons of the Soul (2013), and several on OT narrative texts: An Introduction to the Old Testament Historical Books (1993); Joshua (New American Commentary; 1998); and Giving the Sense: Understanding and Using Old Testament Historical Texts (2003).  He is also the series editor for the Handbooks for Old Testament Exegesis (HOTE) series (six volumes).

Dr. Howard has served on the translation committees for three Bible versions: New Living Translation (1996); English Standard Version (2001); and the Holman Christian Standard Bible (2004).  He also has written notes for three study Bibles: The Nelson Study Bible: NKJV (1997: Joshua-Judges); English Standard Version Study Bible (2008: Judges); and Zondervan NIV Study Bible (2015: Psalms). 

He is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society, the Institute for Biblical Research, and the Society of Biblical Literature.  He served as Book Review Editor for the Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society, and was elected to the ETS Executive Committee in 2000-2007, serving as president of the Society in 2003.  Since 1998, he has traveled once or twice a year to Oradea, Romania, where he teaches at the Emanuel University of Oradea.  He also has taught in recent years in several countries in Southeast Asia.  He and his wife Jan have two married daughters and four grandchildren.

His hobbies include reading, distance running, bike riding, long drives with his wife, and music (mainly classical and Celtic folk music).

Wilson Phang

Wilson grew up in Southeast Asia and came to the USA to attend Biola University, San Francisco State University, Multnomah University and Trinity Theological Seminary.  Initially, he practiced as a Psychiatric Therapist for about 13 years.  He also served in the military in the Behavioral Science unit.  Since 1997, he has been in full-time ministry as an educator, crisis responder and care provider to those serving in ministry full-time.  His heart has been for the people of Asia, especially those in Southeast Asia.  He is fluent in several Asian languages and enjoys the people there.

Wilson has completed graduate studies in Psychology, Clinical Social Work, Pastoral / Family Ministry, Biblical Counseling and Missional Leadership.  He is called to providing counseling, and training in counseling and missions.

Wilson is married to Esther, and they have 3 grown children.  They are empty nesters, but enjoy visits with their children.

Rev. Dr. Komal Masih
Distinguished Professor

Rev. Dr. Komal Masih has been a senior minister of the Methodist Church, and is very well known and respected nationally and internationally. He provided the much-needed leadership for the training program in India, and taught at different places like Delhi, Kolkata, Lucknow and Sri lanka.  The students loved his teaching, and valued him as a fatherly mentor.

Rev. Komal is a highly esteemed pastor, professor, mentor, translator, and author.  Despite his high credentials, he has also been involved extensively in reaching out to villages least evangelized by the Gospel. 

Dr. Gerard Scolamiero
Professor of Biblical Studies, Systematic Theology & Pastoral Studies

Dr. Gerard Scolamiero is an evangelical Christian who has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Biola University, a Masters in New Testament Studies from Western Conservative Baptist Seminary, and a Ph.D. with honors, in Biblical Studies from Cambridge Graduate School.

He has been in the ministry since 1980 and possesses comprehensive church planting, pastoral, prison chaplaincy and missionary experience throughout the Pacific Rim, the former Soviet Union and South America.  Since 1994 he has taught at numerous new evangelical Bible colleges, seminaries and Christian universities that have opened up throughout the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe since the fall of communism.

Dr. Scolamiero has served as a professor of  Biblical Studies, Systematic Theology and Pastoral Studies for Cambridge Graduate School and Emmanuel College of Christian Studies from 2002 – 2011.  He has written a number of books including: A General Introduction to the New Testament and Survey of the Gospel of Matthew and, ROMANS: The Gospel of Jesus Christ Defined, Defended, and Applied.

He lives in Exeter, New Hampshire, with his wife, Cindy.  They have two adult sons who are faithfully living for the Lord named Jonathan, and Nathan.

Richard Rood
Professor, Global Faculty

Rick Rood has been serving as a chaplain at two hospitals in Texas concurrently: Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite since 1996, and Green Oaks Psychiatric Hospital in Dallas since 1998. He has also served as the director of publications for Probe Ministries, in a ministry with International Students, Inc., as an Associate Professor for Field Education with Dallas Theological Seminary, and pastored a church in the Seattle area.  Rick received his B.A. degree from Seattle Pacific University, and his Th.M. from Dallas Seminary.  As a professor with ACTS International, Rick is teaching theological and counseling courses with the ACTS Institutes. Rick cared for his wife Polly devotedly during her twenty-year journey with a neurodegenerative illness until her home-going in 2003.  Rick and Polly have two adult children -- Jeff and Jill.  After a five-year, long distance courtship, Rick and his new wife Li Lin were married October 20, 2012. They first met when she was a student in the U.S. in the late 80s, during which time she came to know the Lord. She has been serving as church administrator at Friendship Presbyterian Church in Taipei since the late 90s.

Dr. Manoja Korada

Dr. Manoja Kumar Korada is a native of Orissa, India. Having spent his initial years in the mission field in training native missionaries at the grass root level, he now trains pastors / church planters both formally and informally. Currently, he teaches at IPC Theological Seminary Kottayam, Kerala, India. Apart from teaching and training, Dr. Manoja is also involved in writing. He has earned his PhD in Theology (OT) from the University of Mysore, India. He is married to Sanjukta and is blessed with a daughter, Snigdha, and a son, Jonathan. 

Dr. Le Minh Dat

Dr. Le Minh Dat received his Doctor of Divinity in Leadership degree from Miami International Seminary, and his M.A degree in Biblical Studies from New Covenant University. Dat is currently the pastor of Vietnam Agape Outreach Church in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Prior to his call to the ministry, he was a business consultant with the Giao Chau Corp. in Vietnam.

Moses MeeOnn Lee

Moses received his B.Th. degree from Malaysia Bible Seminary, M.A. degree from South East Asia Theological Seminary (Indonesia), M.Th. degree from South East Asia Graduate School of Theology (Singapore), and he is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Fort Worth, Texas). He was awarded the Rev Peter Hsu Award for being the outstanding Alumni of Malaysia Bible Seminary, Malaysia in 1997. He has served as the Acting Dean of Studies, School of Theology (1991-1992), Dean of Studies, School of Theology (1993-1994), Associate Dean of Chinese Department (1995-1996), Dean of Chinese Department cum Dean of Studies (1998-2005) at Malaysia Bible Seminary. He has also been involved in his pastoral duties at the Gospel Hall Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (1988-1990), and Gospel Hall Cameron Highlands, Malaysia (1984-1987).  

Monica Lee

Mrs Monica Lee holds a Master’s degree of Ministry from Malaysia Bible Seminary, and a Biblical Counseling Certificate from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Forth Worth, Texas). She has served in Agape Counseling Centre. She is a facilitator of Premarital Counseling and a speaker at women's events. She is a member of American Association of Christian Counseling (AACC). She is married to Moses Lee Mee Onn, and they have three children and a daughter in-law: Jonathan & Stephanie, Grace and David.

Dr. Henry Johnson

Dr. Johnson  is a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary, holding both his ThM and DMin from Dallas. He is the President and founder of Aaron’s Palm, a ministry that seeks to bring biblical help and hope to God’s leaders around the world. His ministry is focused on equipping ministry leaders in the areas of leader formation, theological training, expository preaching, and biblical counseling. Henry is a biblical counselor, certified by Association of Certified Biblical Counselors. He and his wife Cyndee serve leaders as well by one-on-one counseling that addresses the struggles ministry leader encounter. Cyndee had also done graduate work at Dallas and completed training in biblical counseling. The ministry of Aaron’s Palm comes along side God’s servants in the same way Aaron came alongside Moses in the heat of battle. God’s leaders face unprecedented challenges in fulfilling God’s call upon their lives. He and Cyndee count it all joy to serve God’s servants amid the realities of ministry.

Terry & Debby Baxter

Terry and Debby Baxter are both graduates of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.  Terry has planted or pastored several churches in the United States He is currently the Executive Director of Global Compassion Network and travels as a speaker both nationally and internationally.  They have a passion for world evangelism and delight in training nationals to reach and care for their own people.
